Our history

In July 1978, a hospitality supplies company was born in a small building that once served as a Nambour church. The owners at the time were laying the foundations for a business that would be built upon by Leith Goulter and Tim Dawson, to become one of Queensland’s leading contractors to the state’s hospitality, cleaning and healthcare industries.

In the early 80s Pitchers was expanding at such a rapid rate, the team outgrew its original premises and made the move from Nambour to Forest Glen.

1st March 1987 – yet another move to larger premises in Kayleigh Drive, Maroochydore. The larger site and substantially bigger warehouse allowed Pitchers to expand its product range to some 8,000 different lines and build a purpose built showroom.

With further expansion, in February 1999 the Pitchers warehouse showroom was relocated to Tectonic Drive, Kunda Park. The purpose built, bigger and better showroom and demonstration centre was well received by customers keen to sample and demonstrate the latest innovations in commercial catering equipment, kitchenware and cleaning products.

Remarkably, in 1997 Pitchers became the first Australian company within the hospitality cleaning industry to achieve world recognised ISO 9001 quality assurance accreditation.

When Leith Goulter retired in 1997, Tim Dawson acknowledged his former business partner’s significant contribution, grateful for the dedication and personalised service he had shown his loyal clients for more than 21 years.

Determined to continue the successful path Leith had helped to forge, Tim vowed to continue in the same vein. He enlisted the help of his two daughters, Susie and Jane, who had shown an early interest in the machinations of the business.

Upon Tim’s retirement in 2006, Susie and Jane (along with their respective husbands, Steve Piva and Damien Groves) took the reins. Since then, they have steered the business to new heights. More than 500 clients rely on Pitchers to source and supply over 25,000 products. They are impressive statistics, backed by second-generation industry expertise and personalised service that promises a winning formula for generations to come.
